I’m based near the Athlete’s Village on the new Olympic site. 90% of the Olympic contractors use our plant and equipment. So it’s my job to help them find the products they need, as well as look for new sales opportunities. It’s a busy office and there’s lots of work to be done, but it’s really exciting. I get to see the Aquatics Centre and Stadium taking shape and sometimes we see famous people too. I’ve spotted Barack Obama and Boris Johnson so far!

I’ve started working in sales at our Maidstone depot two and a half years ago. Then I was offered a promotion here and it was too good to refuse! I’m really ambitious – I want to go right to the top and become a director. So if I can prove myself on this high-profile project, I know I can really go places! That’s one of the best things about A-Plant. They’re a big company, so the progression is excellent.

Having spoken to friends working for similar companies, I’d certainly recommend A-Plant. I think they’re one of the best companies in the industry – they certainly treat their people much better than competitors do! The training is very good too. I’ve been on courses for sales, manual handling – all sorts, really. They’re always trying to help you develop your skills.
